heat shock proteinanimal breedingfeed supplement
Heat shock proteins(HSP)can keep cell homeostasis and capture the wrong folding proteins back to normal state, which act as molecular chaperone from bacteria to human under stress conditions. HSP participate in nearly all vital activities such as immune function,anti-oxidative,anti-radiation and cancer cell proliferation et al. Expression of different Hsps during stress varies depending on their protective functions and anti-apoptotic activities. When livestock under heat stress,HSP expressed differently, suggesting their protective role. Adding aspirin or coenzyme Q10 and other substance to animal feed could upregulate HSP expression under heat stress, suggesting these feed supplements could improve stress tolerance in animals, and improve the efficiency of animal breeding and decrease the cost. In the present review,we summarized the findings of previous research on the application of HSP in human area and veterinary medicine, and the current feed supplyments anti-stress activities, for better animal welfare and food safty in future.
