L-theanine is a characteristic nonprotein amino acid of tea and has a variety of beneficial biological functions. In the last few years,it has been used as a functional feed additive in livestock and poultry production and showed great potential. This article summarized the antioxidation and immunoregulation functions of L-theanine,as well as the actual application in livestock and poultry production so as to provide the reference for L-theanine’s scientific application in livestock and poultry production.
